Academician Daniel Wang passed away in the United States on August 29, 2020. He was 84 years old.

Dr. Wang was an internationally-renowned leader in the field of biochemical engineering. His research helped form the basis for modern biotechnological and medicine developments, and he was one of the founding Board Members of the biotechnology company Biogen.

Dr. Wang served at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 1965, and his continuous efforts to cultivate talent lasted throughout his distinguished career, including being named Institute Professor and founding the Biotechnology Process Engineering Center. He was later elected member of the American Academy Arts and Sciences, and the National Academy of Engineering (USA). Dr. Wang was elected Academia Sinica Academician in 1992.
