Taipei Medical University (TMU) has been offering the course “Social Prescribing” since 2022, inviting rehabilitation professionals to nurture future talents.
 

“The core value of social prescribing is conducting treatment without medical interference” explained Dr. Yu-Chun Lo, Associate Professor from TMU College of Medical Science and Technology, “We focus on reducing the social interaction barrier by addressing developmental challenges.” She emphasized that the syndrome cannot be cured through medicine but connection with society.

The course invites therapists from various fields, including art, music, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and language, and collaborates with local kindergartens for on-site observation. In 2024, TMU expanded this initiative by partnering with the National Taiwan Museum, featuring games related to art, music, language, sports, and daily life. Focusing on the topic of “Restoring Children’s Concentration,” the course aims to address issues such as modern children’s excessive exposure to digital devices and decreased interaction between parents and children. TMU hopes that these designed activities benefit children to regain their focus.

Through innovative collaboration with experts from different disciplines and customized course design, TMU shows its endeavor to address modern medical challenges. By fostering environments that promote concentration and social connection, TMU believes that their actions, bit by bit, will improve the well-being of the next generation.
